Pikubo, a popular Japanese photo-sharing application, is now available on Blackberry. The application is released by Singapore-based Apps Foundry, in coordination with Etolabo, a consumer web company based in Tokyo, Japan. Pikubo photo app can be downloaded for free via Over The Air here.
Pikubo can be used to share photos with families and friends through Facebook and Twitter. Plus, users can also addfilters and enhancements to make their photos more attractive (e.g. the pretty girl above). Pikubo also has a social element within the app as users can follow their friends’ photos and comment on them. The mobile version enables users to take photos with the built-in camera in their smartphones and share them with friends quickly.
Pikubo currently has more than 250,000 active users and about 180,000 likes on its Facebook page. This Blackberry app version would allow Pikubo to reach out to more users, especially in Indonesia which has more than 3 million BlackBerry users.
“We chose the Blackberry platform because it matches the social character of the Indonesian market and global market trend in general”, said Willson Cuaca, CEO of Apps Foundry.
“By releasing Pikubo for Blackberry, we hope that Pikubo can acquire more mobile based users” adds Batara Eto, CEO of Etolabo.
