Movreak LogoYoung people in Indonesia love to watch movies. They are also avid users of social networks and mobile devices. Attempting to capitalize on all three interests is Movreak, a social network mobile app about Indonesian cinema.

The name Movreak comes from combining the words ‘movie’ and ‘freak.’ It is all about viewing information about movies, writing reviews, or planning to watch movies with friends. Movreak can be freely downloaded for iOS and Symbian-based smart phones.

Using Movreak, users can view information about movies now playing in cinemas, check their show times, as well as research user reviews and other details. Show schedules are aggregated from two largest cinema networks in Indonesia, 21 Cineplex and Blitz Megaplex, and are available for 31 cities around the country. This is extremely useful since there is no single portal that provides information from both networks at this time. Users can even see available seats in Blitz Megaplex theaters.

The social features on Movreak enable users to post review and share through popular social networks like Twitter and Facebook, or check-in using Foursquare. Users can also create a ‘Watching Plan’ and share it among friends or create a Facebook event and invite friends to watch movies together. This deep social network integration is one of key advantage for Movreak over its competitors.

Andri Yadi, co-founder of Movreak started developing it because he really liked movies and he needed a handy tool to search information about movies on his mobile devices. His company, Dycode, is a software house focusing on enterprise solutions. As mobile industry grew in Indonesia, they started to get serious by developing Movreak.
As a starting point, Movreak was a huge success for Dycode. It won several awards like Best Mobile Application on Sparxup Award 2010, one of e27 Asia’s Top 50 Apps in 2010 and one of the winners of iMulai 3.0 competition.

And there are more upcoming plans for Movreak moving forward. Users can look forward to mobile ticketing, as well as mobile apps on other popular platforms like Blackberry and Android.
