As the number of mobile phone users increases, demand for mobile applications experiences significant growth as well.
IDBYTE offers a great opportunity for Indonesian developers to build Android mobile applications to promote tourism. Tourism is currently booming in the nation as it is expected that 7.7 million tourists will visit this year, generating over $8 million in revenue.
This competition (supported by Qualcomm and HTC) is open to individuals, teams, or business entities. The mobile application must be designed to promote tourism in Indonesia. It must also be original and not already published in the Android Market.
Mobile apps that leverage additional features like augmented reality (AR) technology would be a plus, as these would work well on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Chipset and/or HTC mobile phones.
The judges will evaluate the mobile applications based on a number of criteria: design, usability, functionality, technology, model, and creativity. Prizes will be awarded to those participants who submit the best entries as determined by the judges. Mentorship will be provided by a panel of industry experts.
Find more information about the how to enter and the terms and conditions of the competition on the Bubu Awards website. The submission deadline is July 4, 2011 at 5 pm (GMT + 7).
